The End For Me Has Arrived
I am a lifelong diehard Howard Stern fanatic and I am no longer compelled to tune into his show. Howard has earned my eternal gratitude for a 20+ year run of unparalleled entertainment, but that run has definitively ended for me.
Some changes in my consumption of entertainment coupled with some disappointing moments in the evolution of Howard's show have both lent to my current disinterest.
I am formally declaring the end of my listenership while also extending a heartfelt thanks to Howard and his staff. They colored my mornings in a manner that can never be replicated by any other personality or entertainment crew again. Read More
NFL Fantasy Goes Mainstream
Football is king and that is a beautiful thing. While my interest in other professional sports has seemed to wane a bit as I have grown older and started a family, my passion for NFL football has increased tenfold and borderlines on an obsession.
There is no doubt that my love for fantasy football has fueled my continued and increasing interest in the NFL. The way that pro football is covered by major sports media these days, highlighting fantasy stats and catering to fantasy players, is a clear indication that I am not alone in this dual purpose interest in the NFL. The explosion of fantasy football and the ascension of the NFL seem to go hand in hand. Read More
The Power Of Meditation
Inroads To The Mainstream
Meditation, or the general practice of mindfulness, seems to be slowly making inroads into the collective consciousness of the mainstream.
Just about anywhere you turn these days you seem to run into an article, podcast discussion, or some sort of social site mention about the benefits of meditation.
I understand the desire of those who practice meditation to want to share with the world the benefits they have been experiencing, but in the past, I have found myself a little hesitant to bring up the subject amongst my peers.
Something about voluntarily sharing that I meditate felt like bragging and maybe even coming off as slightly pompous, so I have kept my practice close to my heart until recently.
I can no longer hold back, though, from sharing the many benefits that meditation has brought into my life. Read More
Butter In Your Coffee
Ketogenic Powerhouse Or Fad?
Have you blended grass-fed butter and coconut oil in your coffee yet? Known as Bulletproof coffee, it is rapidly growing beyond an underground beverage of choice for CrossFit athletes and ketogenic diet devotees.
The caffeinated concoction was created by Dave Asprey, founder, and CEO of The Bulletproof brand. There are purported wellness benefits to be gained by consuming buttered coffee, a beverage that is now being touted by others than just Dave and the growing legions of Bulletproof diehards.
The sharp increase of visibility along with the claims of wellness benefits are starting to give Bulletproof coffee the feel of being just another health craze fad. Read More

Heart, Hustle, and Soul
Gary Vaynerchuk has become the standard bearer for hustling. He is a showman without a doubt, but the fuel for Gary’s rocket ride to becoming one of the most iconic online persona’s today is the value he consistently provides with his content and the integrity with which he has built his brand.
Gary seems heartfelt in wanting every single person he touches to break free from the soul-sucking trap of the rat race. He implores people to take definitive and immediate action in pursuit of their own entrepreneurial dreams. Read More
A Stitcher Original Series Podcast
I would imagine that most people could relate to feeling some sort of sense that there is something better for them out there in the world.
At one time or another, most have probably felt the pull of an opportunity offering the promise of a purpose and an upgraded lifestyle if they just remained focused on the goal with positive intentions.
If cultivated in the right manner, these desires could be used to harness action towards a worthwhile pursuit in life. If left unchecked, these yearnings could be preyed upon and taken advantage of without the slightest hint of impropriety ever being revealed in the offering until it was too late and the damage was done.
The Dream is a brand new podcast offering hosted by award winning journalist Jane Marie that takes a hard, investigative look at multi-level marketing, a model of selling and distributing products peer to peer with a tiered sales recruiting component being the fulcrum of the entire operation. The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast
Top Of The Podcast Game
Podcasts have exploded over recent years. There seems to be a show available to fit anyone’s interest from the broadest of ranging topics to the most narrow of niches.
To me, there is no one creating better podcast content than Joe Rogan. He is a prolific producer of shows and his guests are consistently captivating.
Joe is a comedian at heart but his podcast show does not revolve around comedy. Quite often the discussions center around deconstructing life and examining current social issues. Those are the topics that have always most fascinated me about his show.
While there are countless individuals from a wide range of interest and walks of life who have made repeat visits to the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast there is one individual who I believe is the undisputed best and greatest recurring guest. That guest is Duncan Trussell. Read More

Words Matter Podcast
A Stalled Political System
Politics in the United States is beyond a hot mess and it has been for years. The car crash analogy is a fitting one: As painful and sad as the wreckage all appears to be I just can not turn away from looking.
On one hand, I am completely fatigued by the incessant churning of the 24-hour political news cycle while on the other hand I am routinely drawn into getting a daily fix of stories and analysis.
I will put this out there right up front, I am left-leaning, but I suspect like the majority of Americans I gravitate towards the middle.
While I am fully supportive of the social freedoms the Democrats espouse, I am disheartened by their lack of vision and incapability of voicing a cohesive message. In the face of our mounting federal debt, I am intrigued by fiscally conservative principles touted by traditional Republicans, but where are the supportive actions and policies? Bush exploded the debt while in office and the trickle down theory is a joke in practice with wealth disparity raging out of control. Read More
The Wonder Of Our Bodies
Our bodies, their functionality, and their intricate design are truly something to marvel at. Our bodies can also, unfortunately, veer off into dysfunctional physiological behavior, firing off discomforting or even bizarre outbreaks of symptoms at times.
Oftentimes, many of us ignore rashes, bumps, or other more alarming signals from our bodies in hopes that whatever the heck is causing the current malfunctioning will simply go away.
When we do finally find the time or get up the necessary courage to go see a doctor, we are often treated to a 5-minute crash course visit with an overworked and seemingly uninterested healthcare provider who quickly grabs for a prescription pad prior to even having an in-depth or probative conversation with us. Common Sense #318 - For Whom the Bell Trolls
I know I am late to the party with a commentary on a political podcast episode that was released a couple of months ago, but every breath that Dan Carlin uttered on his Common Sense podcast Show #318 is still very relevant and will be so the foreseeable future.

To me, there is no one creating better podcast content than Joe Rogan. He is a prolific producer of shows and the guests and discussions are consistently compelling.
The guests on Joe’s podcast are reflective of his array of interests. The conversations are free to go anywhere, though, regardless of the guest’s connection to Joe or the industry they represent.
The Joe Rogan Experience podcast is built around casual conversations in a long-form format. While Joe is a comedian at heart, it is the recurring themes of deconstructing life that has hooked me in and kept me coming back. Read More
Speak Your Shame
I first became consciously aware of shame when I was undertaking psychotherapy.
Prior to this discussion with my therapist, I had always known the word shame and had a cursory understanding of the emotion, but never quite possessed the self-awareness to grasp the burden it could impose upon our lives.
When initially discussing shame with my therapist she told me about Dr. Brene Brown, a research professor, and suggested I become familiar with her TED Talk on shame. It is one of the most viewed TED Talks ever and upon viewing the video I immediately felt why it resonates so deeply with people.
In her talk, Dr. Brown openly describes her own personal entanglement with shame and details how it can manifest within us. She also implores each and every one of us to live a more daring and vulnerable life. Read More
